Durability in details: technical labels that stand the test of time

Technical labels are a part of our daily lives, though we often don’t notice them. They are everywhere: from kitchen appliances to bicycles. They have a crucial role – they carry important information and must be able to withstand various conditions, from high temperatures and moisture, to chemicals and abrasion. IML net d.o.o. specialises in creating premium long-life labels guaranteeing reliability and durability.

IML technology in the service of functionality

Picture a label on a household appliance which stays clear and legible throughout the product’s life cycle. That’s possible thanks to the In-Mould Labelling (IML) technology. This revolutionary technology permanently integrates the label into the product during the manufacturing process. Instead of adhesion, molten plastic (such as PP, PEHD) blends with the label, creating a single unit. This is essential for technical products because it makes their labels resistant to scratches, cracking and high temperatures.

Our technical labels are thicker and more long-lasting, and we always laminate or varnish them for added protection. When required, we also integrate UV protection which ensures that the colours stay vibrant and the text legible even after long-term sun exposure.

IML labels have countless applications in the technical industry:

Household appliances and motors

Labels with instructions, serial numbers or logos on appliances are exposed to heat and frequent handling.

Electrical cabinets and equipment

Important warnings and technical information need to be clearly and permanently visible.

Industrial components

IML labels guarantee that technical specifications and instructions remain intact on the product.

All you need to know about IML technical labels (Q&A)

Yes. IML labels are highly resistant to chemicals, which makes them perfect for products which come into contact with oils, cleaning agents or other chemical substances.

IML labels can be used with different types of plastic, but it is crucial to ensure that the label material and plastic type are compatible. In order to ensure perfect bonding, the label and the product have to be made out of the same or a compatible polymer. This is why we most often work with polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene high-density (PEHD) as they bond the best and ensure the finest quality.

By integrating the label into the product, IML technology eliminates the need for adhesives, and the label doesn’t have to be separated when recycling. This makes the whole product more environmentally friendly, which is crucial for industrial production.
